Zbigniew Karpiński
Sociologist, data analyst, academic teacher

Hello, and welcome on my website! I am an Associate Professor of sociology in the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw and an external serivice provider for European Commission. Between 2019 and 2025, I was scientific research officer in European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Seville.
In my work, I combine an interest in rigorous sociological theorising with the use of formal mathematical tools to model social process. I have contributed to diverse areas in sociology including homophily, status allocation and meritocracy, or justice evaluations and gender inequality. I have also worked in the JRC doing research on educational inequality, non-cognitive skills, and school bullying. Check out my recent publications here.
