Zbigniew Karpiński

Sociologist, data analyst, academic teacher

Hello, and welcome on my website! I am an Associate Professor of sociology in the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw and a scientific research officer in European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Seville.

In my work, I combine an interest in rigorous sociological theorising with the use of formal mathematical tools to model social process. I have contributed to diverse areas in sociology including homophily, status allocation and meritocracy, or justice evaluations and gender inequality. For the past 5 years, I have worked in the JRC doing research on educational inequality, non-cognitive skills, and school bullying. Check out my recent publications here.
